About Rainbox

Water independence for a changing world

What we’re building

Rainbox is developing a new class of water purification: compact, modular systems built to make hard-to-treat water usable where existing options fail.

Built around phase change — nature’s own separation process — Rainbox is designed to simplify treatment, reduce waste, and enable water independence across homes, farms, humanitarian response and industry.

Rainbox is being developed as a repeatable product — modular, deployable, and built to scale.

Progress

  • Core concept proven
  • Full design complete (CAD, modelling, CFD, FEA)
  • Bench prototype built
  • Cranfield collaboration
  • Oxfam pilots planned for harsh-field validation
  • Early multi-site customer interest
  • Inbound demand via developers and architects

Matthew Pike

 Founder & Project Lead

Design-led entrepreneur who has built and scaled teams to over 100 people. After exploring how water systems fall short, he secured Innovate UK backing and brought Rainbox into development in 2025, leading direction, partnerships and delivery.
